Tom Rodriguez is happy to work exclusively as a Kapamilya

After his stint as a Pinoy Big Brother housemate, Tom Rodriguez went on to pursue his dream of entering show business. The 22-year-old hunk went on to guest in various shows like Maalaala Mo Kaya, M3, Your Song, and the Precious Hearts Romance series as well as shows on another network. But last December 8, the Fil-Am actor finally signed a contract under the Kapamilya network. “It means na pagkatapos nito, exclusive na ako sa dos. Hindi na ako ipapahiram sa ibang stations,” he said. Tom also divulged that he currently has two upcoming projects lined up, a noontime show and an afternoon show which he hopes is a drama. “Malamang drama. Nag-e-enjoy ako sa drama ngayon eh so gusto ko pa hasain yung sarili ko,” he added.

One of his dream projects would be to work with John Lloyd Cruz. “I really admire his acting so sana at leastmakasama ko siya sa isang show niya para mapanuod ko siya kung paano siya magtrabaho para din madami akong matutunan o ma-absorb,” he admitted.

As a member of the all male-singing group VoizBoys, Tom also hopes to further his singing career and follow the path of his idols actor-singers Piolo Pascual and Jericho Rosales. “Gusto ko sana kasi I really look up to them. Sila yung mga hinahangaan ko dito so sana mangyari yun,” he added.

Tom is also all set to reprise his role as Harold, Angelica Panganiban’s husband in the sequel to Here Comes The Bride, which is slated for release next year. Tom also shared that he and Angelica will also be working together again in another project. “I’m excited na magkakatrabaho kami ulit, lalo na since magkakaroon kami ng Here Comes The Bride part two soon,” he said.

The US-raised actor has also been busy working on his Tagalog. “Practice lang ako ng practice. Pinakyaw ko na ata lahat ng Tagalog na komiks na mahanap ko sa mga bookstores dito, so sana naman, kahit papaano, nag-improve from last year,” he said.

Tom also revealed he is single even though it was reported that he was dating fellow PBB housemate Princess Manzon. “It was never really exclusive, it was just friendship. She’s a great girl though. Kaso mahirap and it would be unfair. Siya mismo yung nagsabi na it would be unfair to both parties kasi ako yung nag-try manligaweh. Ako yung na-basted. (laughs). Kasi nakakahiya naman kung, kapal naman ng mukha ko manligaw kung hindi ko mapapanindigan so, but on another note, she’s doing well and we’re still good friends,” he said. Tom also shared that he is still in touch with Princess and the rest of his PBB batchmates because they have been busy rehearsing for the Kapamilya Christmas Special. “We’re okay. We’re good friends. I just saw her sarehearsals. Kumpleto yung PBB gang namin. Lahat kami nagkikita-kita pa naman kung may time. So if time permits, eh sa ngayon, kahit nung hindi ako nasa ABS-CBN, sunod-sunod din yung regular na naging showdoon eh. So after there, dito na naman so pahinga lang talaga yung meron,” he said.

This coming Christmas will also be a working holiday for the singer-actor as he is set to perform out of town.“Ako lang ata yung tumanggap ng trabaho sa 25th ng December (laughs). Kasi ayoko naman malungkot yungChristmas ko kasi buong pamilya ko nasa States tapos mag-isa lang ako dito. Ayoko rin naman mag-spendng Christmas na mag-isa lang so mas mabuti na itrabaho ko na lang. Singing is another passion that I’ve learned to love. Napakasarap kumanta especially ‘pag inihahandog mo yung kanta sa audience mo, sa mga taumbayan, ibang klase yung feelings,” he said.
