Laoag City Gymnastic Group is new 'Showtime' champ

Team work, perseverance and determination made it possible for the Laoag City Gymnastics Group to shine as they beat 9 other contenders in "Showtime"’s Season 2 Grand Finals on Saturday.

The Laoag City Gymnastics Group was named as the new "Showtime" champion after they garnered an average score of 9.86. They brought home a total of P1 million cash prize.
The other groups in the finals received the following average scores:
  • Big Trio: 8.23
  • Kids @ Trix: 7.9
  • 89.9 Hoodz: 8.90
  • Mama’s Boys: 8.33
  • Lal-lo’s Backlight Performers: 9.10
  • Speed Movers Crew: 7.43
  • Xtreme 24/7: 9.10
  • Zero Gravity: 7.67
  • Ground Zero: 7.90.
According to a member of the winning group, making it to the finals is already an achievement for them.

“Masayang masaya kami na nakapasok ang grupo namin sa grand finals. Sobra sobra ang blessings na binigay ni Lord sa amin dahil nakapasok kami sa finals,” he said.

Another member said all their hardships during their rehearsals are worth it since being among the finalists is already rewarding.

After the group’s performance, the judges and the Madlang People gave them a standing ovation.


Guest judge Jessa Zaragosa was in awe saying what the group did was breathtaking. “Napaka-breathtaking ng inyong performance. Hindi lang kayo magaling, sobrang entertaining pa 'yung production number na ginawa niyo. Kumpleto, kakaiba, nandiyan ang art at very professional ang dating niyo,” she commented.

Singer Bugoy Drilon, also a guest judge, said he was surprised with the routine the team showed. “Hanep ang katawan nila kung bumali. Grabe nakakagulat 'yung kagalingan na ipinakita niyo sa amin. Hindi kayo nakakasawang panoorin ng mga hurado, ng mga Madlang People at lahat ng mga nanonood sa telebisiyon. Ang ganda ng pinakita niyo,” he said.

Meanwhile, resident judge Vice Ganda could not help but boast of Laoag City Gymnastics Group’s awesome performance. “Napakahusay niyo...world class naman! Wala naman sigurong hindi sasang-ayon kapag sinabi ko na ang mga batang ito ay ipagmamalaki ng Pilipinas sa buong mundo,” he exclaimed.
