Ai Ai Delas Alas says her MMFF Best Actress Award is an answered prayer for her

Mon Dec 27 2010 08:38 AM
by: Rhea Manila P. Santos

During the 36th Metro Manila Film Festival awards night held last December 26 at the Meralco theater in Pasig, Ang Tanging Ina Mo, Last Na ‘To lead star Ai Ai Delas Alas could barely hold back the tears as she accepted the award for Festival Best Actress. The family comedy had bagged a total of nine awards for the night, which also included Best Picture, Best Director and Best Supporting Actress.

The 46-year-old comedienne admitted that she felt the pressure building up as her film started winning more and more awards throughout the night. This was because the Best Actress award was one of the last to be announced during the show. It was hard not to see the mixture of happiness and relief when Ai Ai went onstage to receive the award. Diyos ko, thank you. Thank you, Lord. Maraming salamt po, pati sa jurors. SiyempreMMFF thank you so much sa mga taong bumoto at sa Star Cinema, sa ABS-CBN family, siyempre salamat kay Direk Wenn, at sa lahat ng mga anak ko sa movie, kay Marvin, Shaina, Nikki, lahat sila magagaling dito, salamat talaga,” she said.

Ai Ai also thanked her present manager Boy Abunda, as well as her former talent managers. She also didn’t forget to thank her friends from the press, but didn’t have the time to name everyone.

Ai Ai also shared her award with Rosario lead actress Jennylyn Mercado, who surprisingly did not make it into being nominated in the Best Actress category. Instead, Ai Ai’s co-nominees were Marian Rivera and Carla Abellana (for Super Inday and the Golden Bibe and Shake, Rattle & Roll XII respectively). Ai Ai nonetheless admitted that she had considered Jennylyn to be a worthy contender. Bibigyan na lang kita ng marami next time,” she commented in jest.

Ai Ai also dedicated her award to one of her closest friends in showbiz, Dalaw actress Kris Aquino (who arrived at the event escorted by a group of PSG bodyguards). Ai Ai said her Best Actress win was definitely an answered prayer for her. “Sabi ko kayGod, ‘God sana mag-top grosser kami tsaka sana Best Actress ako.’ Ayan, binigay niya agad. Yun na lang ang hihintayin koLord,” she revealed to the laughing crowd.

Last December 26, Star Cinema MMFF entry Ang Tanging Ina Mo, Last Na ‘To was the undisputed big winner in this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival held at the Meralco theater in Pasig City. The comedy bagged nine awards including Best Picture, Best Actress (Ai Ai Delas Alas), Best Director (Wenn Deramas), Best Supporting Actress (Eugene Domingo), Best Child Performer (Xyriel Manabat), Best Musical Score, Best Gender Sensitive Film, Best Story, and Best Screenplay. That was also the highest number of awards won by a film that night. The movie’s lead star Ai Ai Delas Alas led the cast in accepting the award onstage.

Salamat sa Metro Manila filmfest. Touched kami. Tama. Tama lahat,” she says in jest as the audience broke into laughter.

A tearful Ai Ai also thanked her reel and real-life offspring. Sabi ko ‘Thank you po Ma’am Charo,” she shares.

Gerald Anderson knows his new team up will result to controversies

Mon Dec 27 2010 08:28 AM

Ai Ai delas Alas calls on viewers to support Dolphy’s movie

Mon Dec 27 2010 08:14 AM
by: Bernie Franco

“And then nung binigyan siya ng award (Grand Collar Award) ni Noy and then they went to Malacañang sobrang pasasalamat ang ginawa nila and they were saying hindi na nga nila kinampanya si Noy but Noy recognized his contribution to so many people,” kuwento ni Kris sa The Buzz kahapon. I respected them so much for apologizing (even if) they didn’t have to, number two, they said thank you.”

Is Empress ready to be the next horror princess?

Fri Dec 24 2010 08:07 AM
by: Rachelle Siazon

After playing a significant role in Dalaw, a lot of people are wondering if Empress is following in the footsteps of Maja Salvador who was first dubbed as a Horror Princess because of her remarkable portrayal in Sukob. But Empress claimed that she still has a long way to go before she can earn that title. Pero sa akin naman willing ako i-accept lahat ng klaseng roles mapa-comedy, horror or drama,” she told Push.com.ph during the premiere night of Dalaw last December 19.

Empress also dismissed rumors that her group Chiurigogobaschu’s so-called conflict with Maja might get worse now that she’s being compared with the pretty actress/dancer.

In the meantime, the 17-year-old was just so happy knowing that all her hard work in Dalaw was worth it because the movie proved to be an effective horror film. “Talagang pinagpaguran naming gawin itong movie.

Angel Locsin denied the rumor that she is supposedly planning to transfer TV networks again. Just recently some tabloids have insinuated that Angel might be joining the bandwagon of stars who will be switching TV networks.

Hindi ko naman ho siguro hobby ‘yung lumipat ng istasyon,” joked Angel, who has previously transferred to ABS-CBN from GMA-7 in 2007. The Imortal actress also justified that she has no plans of switching TV networks because she is happy with her current home network.

The actress also denied that she got an offer from TV5 and further explained that the substantial projects that she is currently doing only proves that she is being taken good care of by the Kapamilya network.

Meantime, Angel shared her excitement over the upcoming season two of the primetime teleserye Imortal and added that fans can expect the story to intensify in the coming weeks.

She said that she is having a short break this Christmas and she is looking forward to spending her vacation with her family.

Dolphy absent on 'Father Jejemon' Premiere

Comedy King Dolphy was not able to make it on the red carpet premiere of his Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry “Father Jejemon,” his life partner Zsazsa Padilla revealed on Wednesday.

In an interview with “Showbiz News Ngayon,” Padilla said that Dolphy is not feeling well that’s why he missed the premiere. The Divine Diva, however, stressed that the Comedy King will definitely be present on the MMFF parade.

Pero for sure makakarating siya sa parade,” she said.

Padilla, who is also a producer of the comedy film, said she is very happy that the movie will finally be shown after it hurdled the 2nd review of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB).

She also divulged how happy Dolphy was upon learning the news.

Meanwhile, MTRCB Chair Grace Poe-Llamanzares also expressed her delight with the outcome of MTRCB’s 2nd review.

“Nagkaroon kami ng friends of the court, ibig sabihin hindi naman sila nakakaboto pero puwede silang magbigay ng expertise. Ako’y natutuwa kasi kahit iyong mga bata ay puwedeng mapanood ito,” she said.
