After her contract-signing with the Kapamilya family, Venus Raj is looking forward to working on her first official project with ABS-CBN. The media has been likening her career path to that of Bianca Manalo, who was also her predecessor in the Binibining Pilipinas pageant. Bianca now plays the lead in the afternoon series Juanita Banana.
Venus said that she understands that it’s only natural to be likened to Bianca since they both chose the same career path with the same network. But even with the comparison, Venus had only positive things to say about the Juanita Banana star. “Well si Biancanapaka-bait na tao niyan, siya yung nag-turnover sa akin nung crown so sobrang bait niya, wala akong masabi sa kanya at sobrang kalog na tao. Siguro hindi naman kami kailangan i-compare kasi kilala ko siya bago pa siya naging artista kasi kilala ko siya as a beauty queen. Sobrang laki ng respeto ko kay Bianca. Parang hindi ko naman kailangan i-compare yung sarili ko sa kanya or yung ibang tao naman sa akin,” she explained.
With regards to the kinds of projects she would like to take on, Venus admitted that she is open to doing anything from acting to hosting.
The 22 year-old said she won’t even mind having to wake up early if she were asked to do an early morning show. “Okay lang rin naman yun kasi nag-ja-jog naman ako ng 5:30 in the morning, so parang mag-ja-jogginglang ako, iniisip ko yung ganun. Morning person ako so okay lang,” she told Push.com.ph. Although she is open to acting, Venus admitted that hosting would be an easier transition into starting a showbiz career.
Now that she’s a certified Kapamilya, Venus said there’s no happier person on earth than her mother, who lives with the rest of their family in the town of Bato, Camarines Sur.
With what she has earned so far, Venus has been able to buy a brand new car and take driving lessons. But more than that, she wants to be able to provide a good home for her family back in the province.
