Toni Gonzaga is still overwhelmed by the success of her latest movie, My Amnesia Girl (co-starring John Lloyd Cruz), and admitted that it is one of her best movies so far. However, she explained that this should not be compared to her previous movies with Sam Milby or Vhong Navarro, which have also been successful. “Magkakaibang level. Memorable din naman sa akin ‘yung iba dahil grateful ako dun sa mga [dating ka-partner ko], grateful ako sa mga naging kapares ko. I think it takes two to tango talaga sa isang pelikula. It’s a team effort with co-artists, sa director, group of writers, so it’s a collaboration talaga.”
The actress-host became emotional at the thanksgiving party of the film last week and thanked John Lloyd because he agreed to do the film with her even when he could have said no. She added that she knows how busy Lloydy is with his projects and commitments.
She also has nothing but praise for how good an actor Lloydy is and shared that she learned a lot from him. “Ang isang mahusay na aktor mapagbigay. Hindi ka niya iniiwanan sa isang eksena. Hindi siya selfish na actor.Kung ano’ng husay niya, kung anong tamang gawin, kung anong maitutulong niya sa eksena itinuturo niya sa akin. Ngayon lang ako nakatrabaho ng ganun kagaling,” she beamed. She said that all her previous leading men are good, but Lloydy is the best so far. “Iba ‘yung dating ni Lloydy kaya thankful ako sa kanya.”
Toni was also asked what she thought about her first leading man, Sam Milby, then. “Iba pa rin ‘yung love teamnamin ni Sam dahil first official love team ko talaga ‘yon. Sa amin ni Sam wala naman pwedeng pumalit kahit kanino magkakaiba sila na nasa puso ko. Sam will always be my original love team and he’s part of my life dito sa industry. Kaya I’m willing to work with Sam ulit.” She added that Sam is also slated to do a movie with KC Concepcion.
Toni shared that she actually did not expect My Amnesia Girl to be such a blockbuster hit, but said that she is glad that she gave it her all. Even the film’s director, Direk Cathy Garcia-Molina, said that this is Toni’s best movie ever. “Kasi ibinigay ko lang ang buong puso ko. Hindi ko na inisip kung anuman ang magiging resulta niya. Basta ang nasa isip ko lang sana maibigay ko ‘yung hinihingi sa akin sa pelikulang ito para naman makita nila na deserving naman pala [ako] na magkaroon ng ganitong pelikula at deserving din [ako] na makatrabaho si John Lloyd.”
