John Lloyd Cruz and Angel Locsin have said in many of their interviews that their teleserye Imortal is the fulfillment of one of their greatest showbiz dreams, which is to work with each other. As John Lloyd again told reporters during the press conference for their top-rating series, “Ako rin naman matagal akong naghintay sa kanya. Kung naaalala niyo ‘yung na welcome siya sa ASAP, may red carpet pa. Nun pa lang naghihintay na akong makapareha siya. Nasa kabila [na network] pa lang siya, kapag tinatanong ako kung sino ang gusto kong makapareha mula sa kabila, laging on top of my list si Angel.”
But John Lloyd was also quick to clarify that he only wants Angel as a co-star, and not as a prospect girlfriend. “Napakaganda niya. Voted as sexiest woman, twice. Sino ka para tumanggi kung nandiyan na ‘yung pagkakataon? Pero hindi ko naman pinagpapantasyahan o pinapangarap na maging girlfriend siya.”
John Lloyd and Angel started to get to know each other when production for Imortal began a few months ago. He then discovered how she could be very caring with almost everyone on the set. “Napakamaalaga niya. Parangfeeling mo ikaw ‘yung leading lady. Maasikaso siya. She makes sure na kumportable ka, na busog ka. Kita niyo ‘yung mukha ko parang laging busog. Ha ha ha! Napaka galante niya. Hindi lang naman sa kapwa niya artista, pati rin sa mga staff at crew. Mabibilib ka kasi kakaiba siya makisama, mag-alaga, magmahal. She will go out for her way to make sure na okay ka, kumportable ka sa trabaho.”
That’s why when asked that if he could live forever like his vampire character in Imortal, John Lloyd said he would love to turn Angel into a blood-feeding toothed creature so they can spend eternity together. “For the reason na gusto ko siya maging kaibigan nang Imortal, kakagatin ko ‘to (Angel). Swerte mo kapag meron kang kaibigan na katulad ni Angel. Masaya kung habang buhay mo siyang makakasama.”
Wouldn’t this ignite tension between John Lloyd and his good friend Luis Manzano who is reported to have been trying to win back ex-girlfriend Angel? “Wala namang ilangan.
