As one of the hosts of Showtime, Vhong Navarro feels blessed by the popularity of the show. Despite its suspension earlier this year by the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) which was caused by one of its guest judges, Rosanna Roces, who made controversial remarks regarding teachers, the show has continued to have high ratings and has also helped boost the popularity of its hosts.
Recently, MTRCB Chairman Consoliza Laguardia has again issued a statement about closely monitoring the show to guard against it repeating the same mistake. But Vhong believes there is no truth that Showtime is being singled out or treated unfairly.
“Feeling ko nasabi na lang yun ni chairman eh. Kasi alam ko naman na si chairman nanunuod nga ngShowtime para hindi bantayan yung mga sinasabi, kumbaga nag-e-enjoy siya habang pinapanuod ka niya. Kaya ‘di ba meron nga yun na nag-I love you-han sila ni Vice Ganda? So it means parang wala naman talagang galit si Chairman, nagkataon lang na nangyari yung issue na yun,” he shared.
The talented comedian also says that even if their program is being put under a close watch, he and his Showtime family would rather focus on entertaining instead of feeling bothered by the issue. “Una sa lahat, masaya na ako na naayos na yung kaso between MTRCB and Showtime. Ngayon, ang ginagawa na lang namin, hindi na lang namin pinapansin kung ano man ang puwede pa mangyari. Basta kami, ang hangarin lang naman ng Showtime is magpasaya ng tao,” he said.
Vhong feels confident that there will be no more cause for any future violations and only had positive things to say about MTRCB chairman Laguardia. “Una sa lahat, mahal ako ni chairman. Nung nag-start ako sa Wazzup Wazzup, lagi yang nanunuod sa akin. Kaya si chairman mahal ko rin yan. Kaya sana maging maayos na talaga.
